Brooklyn Restaurant: My Little Pizzeria

My Little Pizzeria

My husband is a bit of connoisseur on pizza, meaning that it’s his favorite food, and he makes an effort to try out a lot of different pizzerias, slowly adding to his handful of favorites. Just to give you an idea, whenever we take a vacation he tries out a local pizzeria — even in places like Brazil. So it’s no wonder that within days of our relocation to Brooklyn he scoped out the pizza situation, and was continually disappointed, until he found My Little Pizzeria. Located on Court Street and teeming each and every time we’ve passed it, we sort of expected it to be good.

It looks pretty basic on the outside, a few benches with tables, some litter, some griminess, and some charm with it’s vintage cashier. Surprisingly, there’s also gelato cafe with mosaic walls in the back, quite the step up from the standard NYC pizzeria. I had a standard slice with fresh mozzarella, my husband had two regular slices. I found my slices rather dry but my husband’s looked quite moist. And the faces he made at me confirmed it. I watched in envy as he downed his slices, graciously offering me a bite or two, while a worked on my cheesy cardboard. I offered a trade, I had “more left” than he did, so he would have more pizza. He made noises at the back of his throat, I took that to mean “no”. He’d rather have less but GOOD pizza.

My take is this, stick to the tried and true, don’t deviate from the regular slices (or possibly the pepperoni) but anything beyond that may be little more than chewy cardboard.
