It’s hard to remember what my 25th birthday was like. I think I went karaoke (?). But i probably did consume my share of C2H50H — while my memory has faded — the tradition clearly has not. Ben celebrated his 25th birthday at Studio Square Beer Garden in Astoria Queens. Seemingly every young-ish looking person wandering around this area of Queens is going to this very venue. We were asked for its direction a few times, and we were also following a freshman-like herd just ahead, who I was sure “couldn’t possibly be around here for any other reason”. Sure enough. It’s Queens legendary watering hole. There’s beer .. LOTS of it. And for the pretty cheap price it’s surprisingly easy to drink — even for a wine snob like me. In fact you may do what Josh did and consume half a gallon barely blinking. Or you may do what Ben did, and lose count. But nothing, absolutely nothing will wipe the smile from your face after visiting not even the florescent cheese fries.
The Queen Bee. She rules over the Flatbush Riviera. All of Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene is her domain.
